About our Service
Access Policy
Full library services are available to all Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL staff and students. Members of the public who wish to come and view Moorfields Museum may do so between the hours of 09.00 - 17.00 Mon - Fri. Anyone who wishes to consult the historical and archive material should make an appointment with the Librarian, Desta Bokre (d.bokre@ucl.ac.uk), to arrange a visit.

Collection of material of national importance on
visual science and opththalmology
The Joint Library of Ophthalmology houses Moorfields Museum, with displays of historical instruments. There is also an historical collection of works on ophthalmology and visual science, an extensive collection of reprints, original paintings and drawings of diseases of the eye dating from the early 19th to the late 20th century and photographs showing before and after images of squint operations and Mules cases (enucleation of the eye) dating from the late 1880s.The Joint Library of Ophthalmology is a national resource for Ophthalmology and Visual Science. It has a collection of over 7,000 books, provides access to the collection of e-journals provided by UCL Library Services numbering several thousand.,
